Questions

The questions we get asked.

Cost, scope, ownership and how a build actually runs — answered plainly, with no figure quoted that we would not put in writing.

General
What does Quantide do?
Quantide is a South African digital studio. We build software that suits how a business already runs — app and website development, automation, custom AI and digital workflows, built to a brief and priced by scope.
How much does a Quantide build cost?
Builds start from R20,000. There are three sizes we quote from — from R20,000, from R40,000 and from R60,000 — and anything that does not sit inside them is quoted as a custom build from your brief. Which size your brief lands in comes down to scope: how many kinds of user, how many integrations, how many platforms and how many separate flows have to run against the same data. You get the scope and the figure in writing before anything starts.
What decides which price band my build lands in?
Scope, not features on a list. From R20,000 covers one clearly defined job with one main kind of user and the one or two integrations it needs. From R40,000 covers more than one kind of user, each with their own view and permissions, several integrations and more than one flow running against the same data. From R60,000 covers a platform with several moving parts — roles on more than one side, Android or iOS alongside web, and a number of workflows running together. Anything outside those is quoted on its own.
Can you give me a price before I send a brief?
Only the starting point — builds start from R20,000. An accurate figure needs the brief, because the cost follows the scope: what the software has to do, who uses it, which platforms it has to run on and what it has to connect to. Send those and you get the scope and the price in writing, before anything starts.
What do you build?
Five. App development — a working app for web, Android or iOS with accounts, permissions and an admin view. Website development — sites wired to the enquiry, booking or workflow behind them. Automation — the manual steps done by the system. Custom AI — models put to a specific job against your own data, with a person accountable for what it does. And digital workflows — the whole path from enquiry to delivery to invoice in one place.
Which platforms do you build for?
Web, Android and iOS. You tell us in your brief which ones the job actually needs; many business tools only need to work well in a browser on a phone and a laptop, and we will say so rather than sell you three builds.
Do I pay the full build cost before I see it?
No. You receive a private working build to put in real hands and test the flows first. The balance of the agreed quote is only charged after that preview, before the software is published.
Do I own the software you build?
Yes. The build is yours — the software, the accounts and the admin behind it. What you pay for is the build itself, not a licence to use your own software.
Does Quantide build websites?
Yes. Website development is one of the five things we build, alongside app development, automation, custom AI and digital workflows. What we do not take on is brand identity, logo and campaign design — that is a different craft, and we will say so rather than take the wrong build.
By city

Where we work.

App development in Durban
Do you build apps for businesses in Durban?
Yes — Quantide is based in Durban. We build custom apps, automation and digital workflows for businesses here, across KwaZulu-Natal and anywhere else in South Africa. There is no walk-in office: briefs are taken in writing, the scope and quote are agreed before anything starts, and you get a private working build to test before the balance is charged.
How much does an app cost in Durban?
Builds start from R20,000, and the figure follows the scope rather than the city. There are three sizes quoted from — from R20,000, from R40,000 and from R60,000 — set by how many kinds of user, how many integrations and how many platforms the job needs. Anything outside those is quoted on its own from your brief.
Do you work with logistics and freight companies?
Yes. Job tracking, proof of delivery, driver hand-offs, inspections and quote-to-invoice workflows are the kinds of build that come out of Durban's freight and port economy most often. The build is shaped to how your yard already runs, not to a product you have to adapt to.
Business automation in Durban
What does business automation actually mean?
It means the manual steps in a process are done by the system instead of a person: a form creates the record, an approval routes itself to the right person, a document is generated from your own data, and a status change triggers whatever has to happen next. It is not a product you install — it is built around the process you already run.
Can you automate work between the tools we already use?
Yes. Integrations with the accounting, calendar, storage and messaging tools you already pay for are part of the build. The aim is fewer places to check, not another system to learn.
How much does automation cost?
Builds start from R20,000 and are priced by scope — how many steps, how many kinds of user and how many systems have to talk to each other. You get the scope and the figure in writing before anything starts.
App development in Johannesburg
Do you build apps for businesses in Johannesburg?
Yes. Quantide builds custom apps, automation and digital workflows for businesses in Johannesburg and across Gauteng. The scope and the price are agreed in writing before work starts, and you preview a real working build before the balance is charged.
Can you build software with approval chains and an audit trail?
Yes. Secure sign-in, user roles, permissions and an audit trail are part of what a build includes. If your brief has a compliance or audit requirement, say so early — it shapes the scope and therefore the quote.
Where is Quantide based?
Quantide is a Durban studio and works with businesses across South Africa, Johannesburg and Gauteng included. Briefs are taken in writing and builds are delivered remotely, so location changes neither the process nor the price.
App development in Cape Town
Do you build apps for businesses in Cape Town?
Yes. Quantide builds custom apps, automation and digital workflows for businesses in Cape Town and across the Western Cape. The scope and the price are agreed in writing before anything starts, and you preview a real working build before the balance is charged.
Can you build a booking system for a seasonal business?
Yes. Booking and scheduling built around your real availability, rates and rules is one of the more common briefs. Seasonal pricing, group bookings and blackout rules are scope questions — include them in the brief and they are priced in from the start.
